Privacy policy
Last updated 12 October 2026
The short version. We never receive your information. Cycle Ahead has no account, no servers and no analytics. What you enter is kept on your iPhone and, if you allow it, in Apple Health. Your Apple Watch gets a small daily summary from your iPhone. Nothing is stored in iCloud by Cycle Ahead. We don't sell or share anything, and nothing is used for advertising.
1. Who we are
Cycle Ahead is made by SPENCER AI (ABN 31 978 335 623), Victoria, Australia ("we", "us"). This policy explains what happens to information in the Cycle Ahead app for iPhone and Apple Watch and on this website. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
2. What Cycle Ahead keeps, and where
When you set up and use the app you enter things like your first name, birth year, height, weight and (if you choose) body fat, your activity level and goal, your answers to the health check at the start (such as pregnancy or breastfeeding, eating disorder history, and heart, kidney or metabolic conditions), whether you take HRT, your cycle dates and programme, daily check-ins (mood, energy, symptoms, period starts and sleep quality), diary notes and what helped, food and weight logs, saved meals, your sleep and reminder times, and daily readiness scores the app works out. Under Australian privacy law much of this is health information, which is sensitive information. We treat it that way, and the simplest protection is that we never receive it.
- On your iPhone. This is kept in one file inside the app's own storage, protected by iOS data protection so it can't be read while your phone is locked. It is included in your own iPhone backup (iCloud Backup or your computer) if you use one. That backup is controlled by your Apple ID, not by us.
- Not on our servers. We don't have any. The app makes no network requests of its own, has no account and contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code. Its fonts and pictures are built into the app.
- Not in iCloud. Cycle Ahead doesn't store your data, or anything it reads from Apple Health, in iCloud Drive, iCloud databases or any other cloud service. The only copies outside your phone are the ones you control: your own iPhone backup, Apple Health (which Apple may sync between your devices under your Health settings) and any export you make.
- Kept until you delete it. Your records stay on your phone for as long as you keep the app, so it can learn your pattern over time. Section 10 explains how to delete them.
3. Apple Health
Apple Health is optional. If you give permission, Cycle Ahead uses it like this. You choose exactly which types to allow, and can change your mind at any time in the Health app (Profile, Apps, Cycle Ahead).
| Cycle Ahead reads | Why |
|---|---|
| Menstrual flow, ovulation test results, basal body temperature and wrist temperature | To place you in your cycle and learn your own pattern. |
| Sleep, heart rate variability and resting heart rate | To work out your daily readiness and sleep advice. |
| Workouts, weight, and food energy, protein, carbs and fat saved by other apps | To set your food targets and learn your real energy burn. |
| Heart rate and active energy (on Apple Watch, during a session) | To run the session on your watch. |
| Cycle Ahead saves to Apple Health | Why |
|---|---|
| Period flow and spotting, symptoms you log (such as cramps, bloating, headache, hot flushes, night sweats, appetite and sleep changes, tiredness), mood (State of Mind), food energy and macros, and weight | So Apple Health is your backup of what you log. |
| Workouts you finish on Apple Watch | So your training is recorded in Apple Health. |
Your diary notes and "what helped" tags have no place in Apple Health, so they stay only in the app's storage on your iPhone.
Health information is never used for advertising, marketing or data mining, never sold, and never shared with anyone by us. Information from Apple Health is used only to give you Cycle Ahead's plan and insights, on your own devices. It is never stored in iCloud by Cycle Ahead.
4. Your Apple Watch
Your iPhone sends your watch a small daily summary: today's readiness, cycle day and stage, today's session, and your calories and protein for the day. Your watch sends back what you do there: a check-in, a period start, a quick food add or a finished session. This goes between your own devices using Apple's WatchConnectivity. We have no server in the middle and never see it. The watch keeps the latest summary in the app's storage on the watch, replaced each time your phone sends a new one, so your watch face complications can show it.
5. Other permissions
- Notifications. If you turn them on, Cycle Ahead schedules a morning check-in reminder and a wind-down reminder on your phone, and, during a free trial, one reminder two days before the trial ends. They say nothing about your health on the lock screen, and they are created on your device, not sent by us.
- Reminders. Only when you tap to send your shopping list, Cycle Ahead adds its items to a list in Apple's Reminders app. Reminders then works under your own settings, which may include iCloud.
6. Exporting your data
You can make a copy of everything the app stores (You, then Export my data). This creates a file on your phone and opens the share sheet. Where it goes next is up to you, and that copy is then outside Cycle Ahead's protection.
7. Subscriptions
Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. We don't see your name, payment details or Apple ID. Apple tells the app only whether your subscription is active.
8. Crash reports
If you have turned on "Share with App Developers" in your iPhone settings, Apple may share anonymous crash reports and usage statistics with us. They don't identify you or contain your health data, and you can turn this off at any time in Settings, Privacy and Security, Analytics and Improvements.
9. This website, and emailing us
This website has no cookies, no analytics and no tracking, and loads nothing from other companies. Like any website, our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security. If you email us, we use your email only to reply to you, and delete it when we no longer need it. Please don't send health details we don't need.
Overseas. We don't send your app data anywhere, in Australia or overseas. Our website host and email provider may store website logs and emails on servers outside Australia. Apple handles purchases, Apple Health sync and crash reports under its own privacy policy.
10. Keeping your data, and deleting it
- Delete everything in the app: You, then Delete all my data. This wipes what Cycle Ahead stores on your phone. Your Apple Watch clears its summary the next time your phone updates it.
- Delete the app: removing Cycle Ahead from your iPhone removes its storage. Remove it from your watch too if it's still there.
- Apple Health: anything Cycle Ahead saved to Apple Health stays there until you delete it in the Health app (Browse, choose the type, then Show All Data).
- Backups: older iPhone backups may still contain the app's file until they are replaced or deleted.
Because we never receive your data, we can't see it, correct it or get it back for you. If you lose your phone without a backup, the app's own records (such as your diary) can't be recovered; what was saved to Apple Health stays in your Health data.
11. Your rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it, and you can deal with us without giving your name. For the app, the answer is none: it all stays on your devices, where you can see, change, export and delete it yourself. Wherever you live, you also have any rights your local privacy law gives you, and you can contact us about them.
12. Age
Cycle Ahead is for adults 18 and over, and the app won't make a plan for anyone who says they are under 18.
13. Changes
If we change how Cycle Ahead handles information, we'll update this page and the date at the top, and tell you in the app before a change that affects what happens to your data.
14. Contact and complaints
